This isn't just age.
Millions of women are told "everything's normal" while their bodies say otherwise. I'm 52, in perimenopause, and I co-founded a metabolic health company to get to the bottom of it. Here is what I've learned, in plain words, with the science behind it.

Your Protein Number
Your goal weight in pounds, times 0.7. That is your grams for the day. One page: the number for every goal weight, what 30 grams looks like on a plate, and my three real breakfasts.

Every recipe I mention in a post lives here, with the protein per serving written on it. Protein pancakes, Sunday egg bites, the yogurt bowl that gets past 30.

Six honest questions. Your answers never leave your screen. If the answer is no, I'll tell you no.

Fast weight loss takes fat from everywhere, and the face is just where you see it first. What the research says you can do about it.
Read itWhere are you in perimenopause?
For some women it starts in the late thirties. The quiz on this site is about one specific question, whether a GLP-1 is worth a conversation, but this is the one to ask first: do you get 30 grams of protein at breakfast?
I felt like my metabolism had quit on me.
I've cared about my health since I was a teenager, and I've always come at it the whole-body way: food, sleep, movement, how it all fits together, not one pill for one problem. Then perimenopause arrived, and my body stopped feeling like mine.
As the wife of an orthopedic surgeon for twenty-plus years, I'd heard the same thing at dinner more nights than I can count: how much weight changes what happens to a knee. So Darin and I started reading. What the research kept showing was that metabolism isn't one thing that fails in your forties. It's the system underneath everything.
That's why we co-founded a metabolic health company, and why I write here. I'm not the expert. I'm a few years ahead of you, and I'll show you what I do.
xx, Lori
